‘Un-American’ attacks on healthcare bill? Really? Un-American to disagree? Next up, Star Chamber…
However, it is now evident that an ugly campaign is underway not merely to misrepresent the health insurance reform legislation, but to disrupt public meetings and prevent members of Congress and constituents from conducting a civil dialogue.
Huh. Interesting language from the speaker of the House. I seem to recall another congress critter that mewled:
“We need to stand up and say we’re Americans, and we have the right to debate and disagree with any administration.”
Ten bonus points to the first commenter that names the critter that uttered that quote.
If my ‘Merican history is correct, this country was founded partially as a disagreement about taxation without representation. Heck, go back even further and we see the Pilgrim’s coming to these shores because they disagreed with the king’s use of the Star Chamber to imprison those that disagreed with him.
Disagreement is Un-American? Either the speaker needs to revisit American history and is truly ignorant [God help us] or this truly is the move of a party to consolidate power and squash anyone that disagrees with them.
