Yay! Employment numbers are up! Onward, faltering economy! Your nemesis is being vanquished. Qualified employees are getting jobs, filling desks, being productive and will eventually be good little consumers!

My parent’s age group are snapping up nearly all the jobs?!
Rut roh, Shaggy.
Here is the breakdown of job gains by all age groups since the start of the depression in December 2007: 5.5 million jobs “gained” in the 55-69 age group. What about the core, 25-54 demographic? Negative 2.04 million.
Never mind the fact that Boomers and up are snagging the the bulk of the jobs, aren’t the “prime workers” supposed to be the economic drivers?
Talk about a bad parenting example.
“Hey kids! We’re gonna leverage the heck out of our earnings potential now, and go on a 2 week cruise around the Mediterranean. Sounds like fun, eh? Well, just you wait. ‘Cause when I get older, I’ll still be filling the job you trained for and you’ll have to resort to flipping burgers. But don’t worry. When I finally retire, I’ll kick back in my La-Z-Boy and complain about how ungrateful you were on our cruise.”
