Day Ten | 31 Days of Thanksgiving
[Dave Webber (@davesacre) is today’s post of Thanksgiving author. You know those folks in your life that you simply want everyone to meet, because they are really neat? Dave’s one of those characters. Owner of SimplData, Dave is never seen without his trusty flip-flops… even in winter!]
Life.
I arrived home from my 4th trip to haiti 6 weeks ago. On this trip I saw the destruction from the earthquake and drove through areas that are now fighting cholera. Each time I go, I realize how much more helping other people positively affects me and how much less “stuff” I really need. It has brought that much more of a new perspective and new thankfulness to my heart.
I am writing today specifically about two people I am very thankful for. Without these two people, I would not have been a part of 4 teams that have helped over 160 families get clean water:
- My wife Laura — she supports me 100%, sacrifices her time, and takes the risk of having me in Haiti. Without her support and encouragement it would be near impossible for me to go.
- Bob Keesee — Bob started Raincatchers, the organization I go to Haiti with. Without his heart for the people of Haiti and starting this organization, I would not have this new perspective. I would not understand that water is life.
