Day Nine | 31 Days of Thanksgiving
[Today’s author is Audrey Walker (@techsocialite). To say that we’re fans of Audrey is a vast understatement! Focused and driven, she is the embodiment of Gary Vaynerchuck’s book Crush It!]
The holidays are here, and so is the season for reflecting back on the previous year and thinking about how blessed we are. I agree with all who have submitted their responses thus far, but I have to trace my wonderful friendships and adventures of the past year to Twitter. Yes, I am thankful for Twitter, the wonderful site created by @ev, @biz and @jack. Twitter has been my tool to meet so many new, amazing individuals, not just in Detroit, but all over the World.
In the last year I got to drive across the country with 3 wild and crazy guys in a super sweet Chevy vehicle, form the Detroit chapter of Girls in Tech, see VIP movie showings before the public, plan and attend the biggest Detroit bash of the summer, meet more friends than I have time to hang out with, attend multiple professional sporting events (for FREE), dominate a Fantasy Football League (working on it), and find an amazing place to call home, all because of Twitter.
I decided that because of Twitter, I will never feel bored or alone again. I can sign on at any moment and have hundreds of compassionate, brilliant, amazing individuals at my finger tips, waiting to be apart of my next adventure, whether here in Detroit or across the ocean.
Thanks Twitter, I heart you.

Totally concur. When I moved to Metro Detroit almost two years ago, I used Twitter to find people and events, to “feel my way”. I started showing up at Tweetea, and the rest is history: I’ve met you and all the folks at Professional One. I’ve gotten work, formed partnerships and developed awesome friendships. I <3 Twitter, too!
It has been astounding the connections, friendships and relationships that have been made simply through twitter… As you’ve seen and practiced, the online engagement makes that first “in person” meeting so natural and “un-awkward.”
I’m thankful to have met you and Audrey as a result of this new fangled social media thing! 🙂
